Who we are

Badi was born into a large family in the DRC (Congo). They relocated to Johannesburg in 1993 and he has had a heart for Jozi ever since!

In 2010 he married Stephanie and they now have three handsome boys Aydon, Joziah and Lesedi.

Badi became a Christian in late high school after a series of key events which included the death of a friend’s brother, the loss of his dad’s business, and the viewing of a play that portrayed the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was at university through the Campus Outreach ministry that he was discipled in faith and began to feel a calling to vocational ministry.

After graduating from the University of Johannesburg with a Sport Psychology degree, Badi worked for Campus Outreach and spent time helping young students know and treasure Christ, and also worked as an apprentice for a local church near the University of Johannesburg. He then attended George Whitfield College in Cape Town for his theological studies, and has worked as a pastor ever since, joining the BBC team in 2014.

Badi and Stephanie love engaging with their community and having people over to their house for meals and games. Badi also enjoys playing and watching sports of any kind, but especially rugby and American football.

Jeffrey was born in Johannesburg and was raised by his grandparents due to his parents’ struggles with addiction. In 2002, during his final year of high school, he experienced a season of deep loss with the passing of his grandmother, his grandfather’s relapse into alcoholism, and a series of sports injuries. During this time, he was invited to church and encountered the Gospel for the first time. God used this season to draw Jeffrey to Himself, and he came to faith in Christ, finding true hope and purpose. In 2003, he began studying Sport Psychology at the University of Johannesburg, the same year Campus Outreach South Africa (COSA) launched. He was discipled by a Campus Outreach staff member and grew in his faith. After graduating in 2006, he joined the Campus Outreach staff team and has served in various roles, becoming the Executive Director in 2016. He recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Theology to further equip him for ministry. Jeffrey married Kristin in 2007, and they have four children—Casey (27, adopted), Asher (14), Mason (12), and Jesse (10). They live in Pretoria and are passionate about reaching university students with the Gospel. The Viljoen family enjoys outdoor activities, playing sport, and hosting friends and family in their home.

Michael has been married to Chandré since 2008, and together they have two beautiful daughters named Emma and Taylor. He has lived in Johannesburg all his life and has a passion for the gospel going out in the city. Michael loves fly fishing, good food, watching sports, and hiking with his family.

Michael came to faith through a campus ministry organization called Campus Outreach. He and his family are members and have attended BBC since September 2021. Michael and Chandré have a passion for discipleship and seeing men and women grow in their faith and relationship with God.

Stuart was born in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, and moved to Johannesburg with his family at a young age, where he has lived ever since. He grew up in a Christian home but came to a deeper understanding and love for the Gospel in 2009, when he committed to knowing Jesus in a more personal way. This growing relationship with Christ led him to sense a call to vocational ministry. Before pursuing this call, Stuart completed a BA Honours degree in Psychology at the University of Johannesburg. In 2017, he began an internship at Bryanston Bible Church and has remained on staff since, currently serving in the Care & Counselling ministry. He met Becky at BBC, and they were married in June 2021. They are expecting their first child in August 2025. Stuart and Becky enjoy doing ministry together and love spending time with family and friends, sharing good food, meaningful conversation, and board games. Stuart recently completed his Master of Divinity (MDiv) through SATS and is passionate about helping people grow in their love for Jesus and live in light of the Gospel.

Wesley was born in Johannesburg and has lived there for most of his life. He came to faith at the age of 14 after hearing the Gospel and was baptised later that same year. While still in high school, reading through the Bible stirred a call to full-time ministry, which he began to explore through a three-month mission school in Mozambique. His journey into vocational ministry began in earnest with an internship at Bryanston Bible Church in 2016. Wesley studied music in 2014 and later pursued theological studies at the Baptist Theological College from 2017 to 2019. He is currently completing a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies through Southern Evangelical Seminary in North Carolina. Wesley married Stacey in 2021, and their son, Zachary, was born in 2024. Stacey is a Chartered Accountant with a Masters in Development Finance and leads Etafuleni, BBC’s outreach ministry to the homeless. Together, they have led a Gospel Community for the past three years and enjoy hosting braais and building community. Wesley served in BBC’s Youth Ministry from 2017 and transitioned into a theological content role in 2024. He is passionate about helping people grow in their knowledge and understanding of God’s Word.

Andrew was born in Durban and grew up in a Christian home alongside his older sister. He came to faith as a young child and began serving in the music ministry during his late teens. After graduating from the University of Natal in 1998, he moved to London to pursue a career in IT consulting. His work allowed him to travel extensively, experiencing different cultures and working in various countries. While in London, Andrew met his wife, Anne, and they were married in January 2004. They became part of an evangelical church in Southwest London, where Andrew continued to serve in the music ministry and began leading Bible studies and discipling others. In 2015, the family relocated to Johannesburg with their two young sons and joined Bryanston Bible Church in 2018. Andrew now serves as a Gospel Community leader and plays bass guitar in the music team. He is an avid mountain biker, regularly participating in cross-country stage races, and enjoys sports entertainment, especially rugby braais with friends. More recently, he earned his private pilot’s licence in 2024 and has taken up general aviation as a hobby. The Borresen family are active members of BBC and enjoy spending time outdoors, cycling and playing sports together.

Andrew was born in the Natal Midlands in 1986 and raised in a committed Christian family. He came to faith at a young age, recognising his need for God’s grace. His childhood was marked by the tragic loss of his mother at age 11, after which his father remarried, and Andrew became part of a blended family of six children. He completed his schooling on the Natal South Coast before studying Actuarial Science in Pretoria. After graduating, he moved to Johannesburg and began attending Bryanston Bible Church in 2009, where he met his wife, Jenna. They were married in 2011. Andrew quickly became involved in church life, leading an Alpha group, starting a Gospel Community, serving in Kids Church for over a decade, and leading the Under the Bridge Feeding Ministry. The Lind family enjoys hosting friends for braais or homemade wood-fired pizzas and spending time on their family farm in KwaZulu-Natal. They are passionate about living out their faith together and serving their community.

Ben was born and raised in Johannesburg, where he has lived his entire life. He grew up in the NG Church and gave his life to Christ as a child. In 2004, he experienced a renewed conviction and recommitted his life to the Lord. He was baptised at Bryanston Bible Church on 9 December 2011, a significant milestone in his spiritual journey. Ben studied a BA in Humanities, followed by a Teaching Degree, and later completed a BEd Honours in Educational Psychology. With over 23 years in education, he has held various leadership roles, including Executive Head of a school. He now runs an educational consultancy company with his wife, Tanya, offering academic and emotional support to families. Ben and Tanya have been married for 20 years and have three children, all of whom were baptised at BBC. The McCarthy family enjoys spending time outdoors and are committed to following Jesus together. Ben is a lifelong learner with a passion for reading and research, always seeking to grow in knowledge and faith.

Blessing was born and raised in Zimbabwe and grew up in a devout Christian family. He was baptised during his early primary school years and has remained active in ministry ever since. He married his childhood friend, Agnes, in 1997, and they celebrated their wedding in 1998. In 2006, they relocated to South Africa with their two children, Tadiwa and Tanaka, and settled in Broadacres, in 2012. Blessing has served in various ministries, including youth, young adults, couples, and mens ministries. In 2009, he completed the Majoring in Men programme at Celebration Ministries and was commissioned as a Minister to Men. He also served briefly on the pastoral team at City Life Church before joining Bryanston Bible Church in 2019. Professionally, Blessing holds several qualifications, including a postgraduate certificate from Nottingham Business School, and is affiliated with IoDSA, PMI, and IRMSA. With a background in mechanical engineering and ICT, he has worked for several prominent organisations and now runs his own business development agency. The Mutambara family is passionate about faith, growth, and hospitality, regularly hosting Gospel Community and other Christian initiatives in their home.

Donavan was born and raised in Johannesburg and came to faith at the age of 15 during a revival tent meeting. After completing high school, he studied Sales and Marketing at Wits Tech, followed by two years at Bible school while working full-time. He led a home cell and served in children’s ministry for many years. Donavan met his wife, Trayer, in 1999, and they were married in 2004. They have three daughters—Annabell, Adehlia, and Aliviya—who are all active in sports. Donavan is a proud supporter and assistant coach of Adehlia’s netball team. In 2005, he founded PTL (Praise the Lord) Products, a chemical and coatings company serving the metal finishing industry, which recently celebrated 20 years of God’s provision. The Jones family began attending Bryanston Bible Church 12 years ago and were deeply moved by a baptism service on their first visit. Donavan and Trayer now lead a Gospel Community. He enjoys travelling, cycling, golf, fly fishing, and spending time outdoors with family and fellow believers. He is passionate about evangelism and sharing his faith wherever he goes.

Francois was born in Pretoria but moved frequently during his childhood due to his father’s work in the Correctional Services sector. He lived in Kimberley, Bloemfontein, and Vereeniging before completing his schooling in Pretoria. He grew up in a Christian home where church, Bible reading, and prayer were part of daily life, and he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour at a young age. His faith was nurtured through leadership involvement at NG Gemeente Wilgers. Between 2007 and 2010, Francois experienced a spiritually distant season, but through the prayers and support of others, he returned to church and began rebuilding his relationship with God. In early 2020, a series of conversations reignited a deep hunger for God’s presence and truth. Francois is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) with an Honours degree in Accounting from the University of Pretoria. He married Yvette in 2012, and they have two daughters, Olivia and Emily, along with their much-loved dog, Butch. Francois currently leads a Gospel Community and mentors young boys. The Joubert family is closely knit and enjoys spending time together, often opening their home to others. Francois enjoys watching sport—especially rugby (go Blue Bulls!)—as well as reading, playing golf, and holidaying by the sea.

Graham was born and raised in Johannesburg, where he has lived his entire life—often joking that diesel fumes and concrete dust run through his veins. He grew up in a Christian home and came to faith at the age of 11, influenced by the godly example of his father, who served as a church elder. During his teenage and young adult years, Graham was mentored by faithful leaders who shaped his understanding of servant-hearted ministry. He studied at Technikon Witwatersrand and has served in various church ministries, including Sunday School, AWANA, high school youth, and young adults. He also led Scripture Union’s Plett beach mission. Graham married Andy in 2001, and together they have raised their three children—Rebecca, Jamie, and John—to love and serve Christ. Rebecca is studying Exercise, Sport and Leisure, Jamie is completing matric and plans to study Law, and John is in Grade 8. Andy is the Principal at Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge, and Graham works in new business development. He is known for his gifts of listening, shepherding, encouragement, hospitality, and prayer, and is passionate about building up the body of Christ.

James grew up as an only child in the north-western suburbs of Johannesburg. He came to faith as a young child, but it was in his late teens—while serving as a helper at Holiday Club— that he truly committed his life to Christ. His faith was further shaped through youth group and young adults Bible studies. James studied at the University of Johannesburg and qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) in 2015 after completing his articles at Deloitte. He married Dané in 2016 at the small church both their families had attended for over two decades. In 2018, they moved to London for three years to travel and gain international work experience, visiting 18 countries before returning to Johannesburg. They have two children, Jamie and Sarah-Leah. James has served in worship and Bible study leadership for over 15 years and has also led youth and young adult ministries. He enjoys movies, board games with friends, and hosting dinners. A fan of the Mercedes F1 team, James also enjoys playing padel, squash, and golf in his spare time.

Keith was born in Durban and moved to Johannesburg in 1995 following a work promotion, having completed his undergraduate studies. He came to faith at the age of 15 during a youth camp and was baptised on 19 April 1987. From a young age, he was involved in children’s, music, and youth ministries at his local church and continued serving in similar roles after relocating. Keith was a founding member and elder at Life Community Church in Wendywood, where he led the worship team until 2015. He is committed to daily devotional time and growing in his relationship with Christ through the Holy Spirit. Keith holds several academic qualifications, including a Master’s in Business Leadership (MBL). He married Julie in 2014, and they were blessed with a daughter, Alexia Ruah, in 2016. Keith sees his family as his first ministry, prioritising prayer, Bible study, and shared meals. He is passionate about mentoring youth and helping them find employment. Professionally, Keith is part of the Public Sector growth business at Deloitte South Africa. At Bryanston Bible Church, he participates in the Men’s Fellowship, has volunteered at LivLanseria, and served as a small group facilitator during the 2024 Alpha Course. He has also supported pastoral care through hospital visits and prayer and hopes to become more involved in the worship team.

Martin was born in Steynsburg in the Karoo and later moved to Randburg, where he completed his schooling. He studied actuarial science through the University of Pretoria and the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA). Martin came to faith in Christ in August 1994, during his second year of university. He met Estea in December 2000, proposed the very next day, and they were married in 2001. The couple spent five years in London, where Martin worked for a global investment adviser specialising in private equity. During this time, they were part of a spirit-filled church and were baptised together over Easter in 2003. They returned to South Africa in 2008, expecting their first son, Chris, and later welcomed their second son, Ruan, in 2011. Martin joined RMB in the investment team and led the Principal Investments division for 14 years before stepping down in 2022 to build a natural capital business, still within RMB. The Potgieters were members of Godfirst Church until 2022 and were part of the G1 Sandton planting team, where Martin served as an elder for seven years. He is passionate about the Gospel as the “good news” and enjoys leading Gospel Community with Estea, who serves in the worship team. Both sons have been baptised and are growing in their own faith. Martin is an avid birder and nature enthusiast, he enjoys studying maps and learning bird calls, and to stay fit, he swims over 350 km each year.

Justin was born in Cape Town and attended Wynberg Boys’ School. He is the eldest of four siblings and grew up in an unchurched home. In Grade 7, a friend invited him to a Scripture Union camp in Simon’s Town where he heard the gospel clearly for the first time and committed his life to Christ. Within a year, both of his parents also came to faith, and the three of them were baptised together during his Grade 8 year. Towards the end of high school, Justin sensed God’s call to ministry. After matric, he studied theology for three years at the Bible Institute of Kalk Bay and completed a further year at the Baptist Theological College in Cape Town. At age 22, he began full-time pastoral ministry after accepting a call to Howick Community Church in KwaZulu-Natal. During his time there, he married his high school sweetheart, Liesl, who had completed her teaching degree in Cape Town before joining him in Howick. In February 2026, Justin celebrated 30 years in pastoral ministry, having served at Howick Community Church (5 years), Honeyridge Baptist Church (10 years), Rosebank Union Church (15 years), and now Bryanston Bible Church since October 2025. Amber was born shortly after the family relocated to Johannesburg to serve at Honeyridge. As a family, they enjoy braais, travelling, hiking, playing board games, and laughing together. Justin particularly enjoys playing pickleball, listening to a wide range of music, playing piano, cultivating succulents, collecting comics, and spending weekends smoking brisket and pork for family and friends.
